03 Feb The Temper is Saying Goodbye; Here’s Where to Find Us
Content
I will no longer allow you to rob me of who I truly am or create unnecessary chaos in my life. I know I’m better off not associating with you whatsoever going forward and I’m thankful I finally gained the courage to stand up to you and say NO. For me, it was such a love-hate bond we had under the false pretense that I “needed” you to have fun, be social or to handle my emotions and stress. You had a way about you that made drinking seem like some kind of luxurious necessity.
Eventually, I realized that I was wrong. You became the hardest relationship I have ever had to experience. You started to take more than you gave. You took almost everything away from me.
Keeping the Memories, Losing the Habits
I really think you just wanted to be my buddy in the beginning. My weekend friend with with the fellas. I’m the one that dragged you along into my adult days.
- The choice was clear, I chose life over you — sobriety over suicide.
- You didn’t force yourself on me…I was just as willing to begin our long friendship as you.
- You couldn’t handle even a few special days off so others could shine.
- I mean, damn, I can barely remember all those late night documentaries we watched on Netflix.
Thank you for the good goodbye letter to alcohol and I’ll try to forget the bad. It’s time for me to focus on my family. It’s time for me to make things right. They deserve me without you tagging along.
